ghost stories

I've always loved stories about the paranormal, the unknown, the mysterious. So I thought I'd share some of the stories I've heard, found or experienced. Stay tuned for some ghostly content on this page.

the grey lady

location: rural northern europe; outside homes, roadside
first encountered: 1970s? possibly earlier
last encounter: 1999 or 2000
appearance:: opaque or slightly translucent, tall woman figure, entirely grey

this is a ghost i have personally witnessed. i grew up in a small farming village. my encounter happened in the garden of a farmhouse i was visiting. myself and two other children saw the figure enter a storage building on the other side of the garden and went to investigate. the snow cover in front of the storage building was fully intact despite of us seeing the figure enter the space. we did not recognise the figure.

i have since heard three other encounters of this ghost. one of them happened in the same garden, to a neighbour who had also seen the ghost as a child in a similar manner, walking through the garden. chronologically, the next one happened to my aunt who saw the figure by the road on her way between her home at the time and the building where the previously mentioned encounters took place. the third encounter happened to my mother in her youth: she observed the figure float across a field by her childhood home where i also grew up.

this figure seems like a harmless residual haunting connected to both locations. one theory is that the building material of the old side of my mother's childhood home may have been connected to the materials used in the outdoor storage in the neighbours garden and the figure has something to do with the original estate both of these were separated from.
